Gujarat Tribal Tour
Day 01 — Mumbai-Arrival
On your arrival at Mumbai airport, you will be met by our representative and would be further assisted till your hotel. Rest of the time is kept free to recover from jetlag. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 02 — Mumbai-Saputara
After having breakfast, you will be transferred to Saputara. Arrive at Saputara and check in to the hotel. After having lunch, visit the NageswaraMahadevTemple — which has the idol of the Lord Shiva. The temple is visited by a lot of people because of its religious sanctity. Also visit the museum of Saputara — it is a well-kept museum which provides the information about the tribes of Dang area. The tribal ornaments and musical instruments are exhibited in this museum. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 03 — Saputara
Today, visit the nearby villages to see the tribes of Dang area. Main tribes which are found here are Bhils, Kunbis, Warlis and Gamits. We will also visit Ahwa to see the local market as various tribal people come here for shopping and to sell their items. In the evening enjoy the Dangi Dance at the hotel.
Day 04 — Saputara-Vadodara
In the early morning, you would be transferred to Vadodara. On Arrival at Vadodara, check in to the hotel and have lunch. After lunch, start a tour of Lakshmi Villas Palace & Art museum (if the entry permission is granted). Later, drive to Dabhoi (a rustic town) to see the different historical Gates. Also, take the walk through the old streets of the town to see the life style of the people and to experience the real India. Diner and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 05 — Vadodara
Today, visit the weekly market at Chotta Udepur/ Kanwat or Rangpur/ Sajadi in these markets, different tribes namely the Rathwas, Bhils and Nayaks can be seen. In Chotta Udepur visit the tribal museum. Have lunch in a natural resort at Jambughoda. On way back to Vadodara, first visit some painted houses of Rathwas Tribe and later visit Champaner (Pavagadh) to see the marvelous Jami Mosque, the walls of the old Fort and Sahar Ki Masjid. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 06 — Vadodara-Ahmedabad
After having early breakfast, depart for Ahmedabad and check in to the hotel. In Ahmedabad, visit Calico Textile Museum and beautiful Hutheesing Jain Temple.In the afternoon, take a tour Sidi Sayed Mosque which is famous for its excellent architecture, Vidyapith tribal museum and Gandhi Ashram – in this Ashram Mahatma Gandhi spent his important days during his freedom struggle against British Empire. In the evening, take the dinner at Vishala Ethnic Village Resort with cultural program and also visit Utensil Museum in the compound. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 07 — Ahmedabad-Poshina
In the morning, we will walk to Swami Narayan Temple in Kalupur area to start the heritage walk of the walled city of Ahmedabad. The walk will end at Jami mosque. Later depart Ahmedabad for Poshina en-route visiting Adala Step well. Arrive at Poshina and check in to the heritage hotel Darbargarh.
Day 08 — Poshina
Before breakfast, visit the few streets of Poshina to see the Garcia girls carrying the woods from the jungle to sell them into the market. After breakfast, take a full day visit of Poshina (walk through the village to see the Adivasi and Rabari tribes). Also travel to Chatrang and Bedi Villages of Gowala and Garacia tribes. We would visit the Kumbharia Jain temple, pottery & terracotta horse village of Saleka and few tribal temples. Enjoy the traditional dance performed in the evening.
Day 09 — Poshina-Ambaji-Patan-Modhera-Dasada
After having breakfast, drive to Ambaji and take a walk in the bazaar, the walk ends at the Ambaji temple. Later proceed to Patan, the old ancient city located on the banks of the sacred Sarswati River, we will first visit the Patola weavers and have lunch. Afterwards, visit the Rani Ki Vav step well. Our next stop would be Modhera, situated on the banks of the Pushpavati River here take a tour of superb Modhera Sun temple. After the visit, drive to Dasada. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 — Dasada
In the morning, drive to Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary to observe the birds (Siberian Crane, flamingos) and different animals like the highly endangered Asiatic wild Ass. Also make the small visit to the Agaria salt workers. In the afternoon, take the tour of Vadiara Rabari, Koli and Bhairwad tribe’s villages namely Goriyawad and Ambala. These villages are in the surroundings of Dasada. Also visit some semi-nomadic groups like the Mirs and Bajanias in Dasada. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 11 — Dasada-Bhuj
After having breakfast, drive to Dudhrej for a short visit to the most important temple of the Rabari tribe. Afterwards, drive towards Bhuj. On the way stop at Chobari, May, Midiyara and Kumbhardi, all Rabari villages. By the end of the day, we would reach Bhuj. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 — Bhuj
After having breakfast, visit the markets of Bhuj, Bhujia fort, Darbargadh & Pragmahal palace, the Royal Cenotaph and the Aina Mahal Museum. Later proceed to obtain the permits from DSP Office. After taking lunch at the hotel, start the excursion to Dhamadka to see the block printing by the Khatri tribe, Dhaneti to observe the embroidery by the Ahir tribe and Bhujodi to view the weavers from the Vankar tribe. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 13 — Bhuj-Hodka
After breakfast, first drive to Sumerasar to visit this village of the Khatri tribe and the museum. Later, drive to Jura Village, where we can see Sodha Raiputs and the Maru Meghwar tribes. Continue further to Nirona to see the Rogan painting by the Khatri family, the copper bell making by the Lohar tribe and visit the Vadhas tribe who transform wood into household with bright lacquer colors. Finally arrive at Hodka and check-in to the hotel. After having lunch, visit the Hodka village, where Meghwar/ Harijan Community live. Diner and stay overnight
Day 14 — Hodka
In the morning, visit the Jat tribe in Sararo village. Afterwards visit Bhirandhiaro village with beautiful painted houses of the Meghwar tribe and the nearby village of the Raisipotra Muslim people. After having lunch at the resort, visit Ludia village of the Meghwar community and continue to Khavda where see some Meghwar but also Samma community. Later leave for Kala Dungar to view the beautiful sunset at Indo-Pakistan border. (Last point for no man’s land), one can also see salt desert. Return, back to resorts. Today you will enjoy cultural program of Kutchi People at the resort. Diner and stay overnight
Day 15 — Hodka-Bhuj-Mumbai-Departure
In the morning visit the Muthwas tribe in Dhordo village. Though Mutwas are largely cattle-breeders, the women remain artistically inclined, creating beautiful mud-work with Lipan and mirrors. The work of this village’s talented mud artisans can be seen on the walls of several “modernly furnished” Bhungas in the village itself. After the visit, transfer back to Bhuj to have lunch at the hotel. In time, transfer to the domestic airport for the flight to Mumbai. Upon arrival, you would be received and transferred to a nearby hotel for diner and “wash and change”. After diner transfer to the international airport to board the flight back to home. The trip culminates here.
